Chiming In

Just as a quick update, we dumped the AIP. My acne continued on its normal fluctuation (got worse, even), and decided that is not food related. I have consumed legumes, seeds, and grains since, and feel great!

So happy that I have a partner that cares so much for me, and was willing to follow along on this science experiment with me :)

One day, if I care enough, maybe I'll figure this acne out XP

Day 21

Wasn't sure how today's lunch was going to turn out. Made cranberry glazed chicken... without cranberries! Can't seem to find anything we need at the store :) So instead, made a "berry glaze" with our smoothie berries (blackberries, raspberries, and blueberries), some orange juice, and a touch of maple syrup. Never made something like that before!

Made with baked sweet potatoes and zucchini as sides (because I'm so original.) It was (surprisingly?) great! The turmeric and berry compote blended splendidly together.

Can't wait to reintroduce tomatoes on Monday! I love me some sweet red fruits!

Day 20

Tonight for dinner was breakfast! Only because I accidentally made what was supposed to be dinner one night for breakfast foods (the pork pesto). Not that it matters, since most of our foods are comprised of the same components anyway. This is a homefries alternative; we used spinach instead of kale, normal sweet potatoes instead of white, and ground beef to ours for more substance instead of bacon. (Noooooo not bacon!)

Turned out pretty well. The meat was actually kind of lemony, but when eaten all together, it was quite nice!

More acne popped up as of last night. It's frustrating that this process doesn't seem to have helped me in that department. Outside of the acne, I don't feel any different either. Been talking to Seneca about it, and he believes that if there's no relief of any issues, then there's no reason to continue doing this experiment. I agree with his statement, so I think that if after Father's Day there's still no improvement (because facial skin regenerates about once every month) then there's no point in continuing to filter the foods I eat. Maybe I'll notice a physical reaction to reintroducing something at some point, but I doubt it.

Day 19

Oh, normal breakfast. I love you!

This week has flown by. Pretty soon we'll be back to nightshades! :) Still feeling like normal, taking that all as good signs.

Day 18

Accidentally made dinner for breakfast (oops!) The recipe was just straight-up meat! It tricked me :) Oh well, not like it really matters! I made a pork pesto skillet. The store was out of fresh basil, so I had to finagle with dried. Turned out fantastically anyway!

Overall, so flavourful. Even Seneca (the man with no sense of smell and little taste) thought so! :)

Speaking of flavourful foods, made the blackberry cobbler again last night. It's too good and too easy to not have time and time again :) Also, going to make the Hawaiian salmon tonight for dinner. I guess it's easy to tell what our favourite recipes have been!

Seneca didn't end up feeling itchier the rest of the day, so we don't believe it's tied to the eggs. Tomorrow morning we'll be having our "normal" breakfast, so he'll have two whole eggs. We'll see how that goes!

Day 16

Egg yolks!

Who knew I'd be so excited for these one day :) Mmm the taste of approaching normality. No negative affects so far from the egg yolks. If all stays well, we'll be having egg whites on Thursday!

Tonight, I made beef and mushroom risotto for dinner.

As with the last recipe I made, there were no parsnips at the store, so I went with my trusty old cauliflower ricing instead. I also added a bunch of additional spices (oregano, garlic, rosemary, thyme) because this was definitely going to be headed to B-land without. It tastes alright regardless, kind of a mushy mess. Mushrooms are delicious tho!

Day 14

It's been two weeks! You know what that means... egg yolks will be introduced on Monday. Yay! :)

Made a beef pot roast for dinner tonight. There weren't any parsnips at the store, so we ended up with turnips instead. I think it came out great regardless! The broth is the best part, by far (Seneca agrees.)

I'm eating more, and feeling much better now. Otherwise, no changes! My face is still at normal acne fluctuation, but Seneca's psoriasis is gradually fading. Hopefully, it'll be gone well enough that we can see if anything besides grains influences it.
